Six Flights in Five Days

America West Flight 7, descending towards Phoenix.

Even though I don’t fly America West that often, I am starting to recognize flight crew. I know the blonde walking the aisle of this Airbus A320 has served me pretzels sometime during the past week. I am in transit to Atlanta by way of Phoenix. Everything on America West eventually takes you to Phoenix.

I’m really starting to hate that airport.

Today will mark my third stop in Phoenix since Monday. The folks at the Sky Harbor International Airport haven’t really done anything to inspire true emotions of unbound rage, but the airport hasn’t exactly done anything to thrill me either. Concourse A is plain, ordinary, smells a bit, and has the ugliest carpet I have ever encountered in a transportation-related structure. It looks as if an Aztec vomited on the floor.

Regular readers of siliconchef.com (all three of you) will note I have already voiced my objections to the abhorrent flooring in the Phoenix airport. But the true ugliness of the carpet deserves another journal mention. With that, I will now continue my musing with no further reference to airport flooring.

In about two hours, I will be on flight number six of my week long journey to the west coast. After spending Monday and Tuesday in Seattle, I journeyed to Silicon Valley for three days of device compliance testing (joy, rapture, run to the hills and rejoice in the sound of music). It was a mostly uneventful trip, aside from last night’s dinner at Planet Bollywood … no, wait, that was also uneventful. Never mind then.

I’m looking forward to home. I’m also looking forward to flying Delta again, but that won’t happen till October (yes, another trip to Japan is in my future). I’ll be flying the discount skies again in September. That will, once again, take me through Phoenix.

Don’t worry … I won’t mention the carpet again.

I can’t make it, since this little Japan thing is at the same time.

You should just send susan up on one of your free tickets (of give kat and I one for our honeymoon next year)

I don’t know if Suzan will be able to make it either, even if the ticket’s free.

Hey Brian, you should just take a photo of the ugly, ugly floor so you can just reference the photo each time you want to rant about it. Then we can all weep in pain with you!

I’m somewhat troubled about this ‘nunzilla’ thing, but I shall wait and see….

Just so long as you don’t torture the rest of us when you’re making Sean pay for that comment. Please!
