You know it’s going to happen today. Everyone will want to know wehere you were on September 11, 2001. It’s something I’ll never forget, since I watched the towers fall from Japan. It’s also something I don’t wait five years to remember.
It’s never changed my travel plans, just made me more aware and watchful … I go through the TSA dance with everyone else when I fly, no matter the length of the line or the variations of “prohibited items”. I see the same holes as before, see the same ways to protect myself, see the dance for the distraction that it is.
There’s no reason to go into politics here, no reason to invoke talking points or provide links to articles. The people that use terror want people to change in response to their actions, and I refuse to do so. It’s as simple as that.
I expect today’s overblown media rememberence to get on some people’s nerves. I hope it does not make you want to forget, even if it seems easier that way. What is worth remembering is that people died rushing into those buildings to save others … people died on planes trying to stop what was about to happen. Pray to whatever you find holy that people of that character do not change their ways.
