Down to the Bare Walls

It is soon to be the end of an era … Suzan and I cleaned the last of the items out of the old house today. Ceiling fans, lighting fixtures, several interior doors, one gas stove and a furnace … the last remnants of a past life now live in the corner of my basement.

The old house is, well, a house. Not a great house, not well built and soon destined for a dumpster. It has memories, great memories that have been carried into our new home. Most of the friends Suzan and I made living in that house have remained, which to me is more important … but it was weird to participate in the disassembly of my past.

I have the important things … the land, the friends, the memories, the woman who shared the house with me. Anybody who wants the rest might be able to have it, if the price is right 🙂
