Here’s a quick wrap-up of my Turkeymas holiday experiences …
Thursday was a wonderful gathering at the GeekFarm. Friends came from in town & out of town for an “extended family Thanksgiving”, and the results were fantastic. Amy took great photos.
Friday was a bit harder … a wake for Phil, one of our Dragon*Con TechOps staffers. Phil was an acquaintance, but he was very close to many of my best friends on staff. We spent some time crying over his untimely death, but most of the time was spent as friends enjoying our company. It’s exactly the type of gathering I hope to have when the time comes.
Saturday was spent helping Crispy move to a new apartment. More friends, tons of Crispy’s crap and a huge military surplus truck made for an interesting afternoon.
Sunday … the post-Thanksgiving gathering at Joyce’s house. This was a chance to introduce more of Joyce’s friends (her extended family) to her mother. It was a chance for Joyce’s mother to see how her daughter has grown and created a full world for her yet-to-be-born grandson … plus I got to fix her computer. It’s not a holiday until someone fixes mom’s computer 🙂
Note: I hate Windows Vista. We had to download updates to fix the network adapter … chicken, meet egg. “Warning: you are about to throw this laptop out of the window. Confirm or Cancel?”
A great holiday all around. I can now enjoy several pounds of leftover turkey as my body tries to fight a post-holiday cold (grrrrrr).
