Feb 20, 2002. 7:31AM. Somewhere of Alabama.
My in-flight movie is Bandits. Headset rental is $5. The correct change is always appreciated. The flight is beverage service only, with no breakfast option. Wine and beer can be purchased in the main cabin for $4.
Can you believe I got up at 4:00AM for this?
Bill and I are doing the two-day Pacific tour. I’ll spend a grand total of eight hours in San Jose today, then move on to Portland tonight. After I get back into Atlanta Friday morning, I’ll have two days to rest andrelax. Then I spend next week in San Francisco.
Yes, I know this is a messed up travel arrengement. Most folks would fly to Califorina, then Portland, then stay on the west coast over the weekend. But these two trips were booked a month apart, so I didn’t have much choice. Sometimes non-refundable fares are not your friend.
America West flight 14 to Las Vegas left Atlanta Hartsfield Airport at 7:00AM. Making this flight required me to get up at 4:00AM. I didn’t get to bed till after 11:00PM. This was due in part to my cat’s diarrhea. Since one of my cats just couldn’t wait in line for the litterbox, I ended up scrubbing unwanted deposits out of the sole of my dark brown Rockports. Today I’m wearing my black Rockports. I didn’t want any traces of processed Kitten Chow making their way to the customer meeting.
This week is comprised of quick face-to-face meetings with chipset companies. Next week is Intel Developer Forum, where I give a product presentation to a very large audience. This is the same presentation I’ll be giving in Asia this April. Thanks to Intel, I get to experience more authentic Asian culture (Beijing, Taipei, Tokyo and San Francisco).
My spare laptop battery is dead again. I spent all night charging it, but some new software I installed prevented it from hibernating properly. Instead of powering down when I closed the lid this morning, it kept running in the bag while I wandered through the airport. I have a three hour layover in Vegas, so I have plenty of time to recharge.
Only three and a half hours left on this flight. Can you tell how thrilled I am?
