Walking Away

Yes my friends, it’s the end of an era. I’m walking away from my podcast.

WhatTheCast is a podcast I started with three of my good friends back in 2007. We described it as an extension of the nonsense we do for DragonConTV, but really it was a way for me to discuss ridiculous things with my friends. We’ve had almost seven years of conversations, some great guests and a Parsec award … but we are busy people.

Lately I’ve had to make decisions on where to put my energies. So many things to do, so many people to see, so many work trips, and so many new projects I want to start. I’ve already had to put aside martial arts for a few months, just so I can get caught up.

Friday is when we record the last episode. I feel good about walking away from the podcast, treating its final episode like the special event it is. I still get to work with Crispy and Stephen at Dragon Con, and I’ll have plenty of new things to do in 2014. Even so, it will still be weird to refer to WhatTheCast as something I used to do.

Goodnight sweet podcast. Goodnight.

I think this event calls for a poem. Someone needs to do something for WTC akin to Dylan Thomas’ “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”.

Just don’t build a forbidden dog park as your next project.

DO NOT ENTER THE DOG PARK!

Thanks for a great show… I haven’t listened in a few years (the mid-#90s or so) but enjoyed every bit of it. Congrats to you and the team for your hard work in making us all laugh for the better part of a decade.
